![]() ![]() Juleps are smash cocktails, a fruity drink along the same lines that a Moscow mule or whiskey sour are simple ingredients and basic flavors. We know that in the spring there aren’t a whole lot of holidays or events that call for big celebrations, but these two days tend to be a good excuse to break out the bar cart and celebrate with a few cocktails! Both Cinco de Mayo and Derby Day are associated with iconic traditional cocktails, so naturally we are big fans of these holidays! And if you are wanting to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby together, we have you covered! There are times they both fall on the same day, or only a day apart. Garnish with a long lemon twist, as is tradition.In the spirit of both Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby, here is a Mezcal Mint julep cocktail to celebrate them together! ![]() Strain that mixture into a tall glass, add a handful of ice, then top with ginger beer. In a cocktail shaker, add the cranberry sauce, brandy and lemon juice, plus one or two large ice cubes, and shake hard until the sauce has smoothed out. 2 ounces of brandy (or bourbon whiskey).This also works great as a non-alcoholic drink if you remove the spirit. Red Horse’s NeckĪ take on the classic 19th-century cocktail with ginger beer and brandy, the latter of which can be replaced with whiskey. Garnish with a lemon peel or a sprig of mint, if you have it. For best results, double-strain the drink using a small sieve into a chilled cocktail glass. Add all the other ingredients and shake for 15 more seconds. ![]()
